AACWA welcomes crack down on illegal users of domestic LPG

ITANAGAR, May 29: All Arunachal Contractors Welfare Association (AACWA) has welcomed the crack down on illegal users of subsidized domestic LPG cylinders in Capital Complex.

While appreciating the raid conducted by DFCSO capital team headed by Amit Bengia, AACWA urged the state government to provide them security during raid.

It is pertaining to mention here that there has been artificial shortage of cooking gas in the Capital Complex mainly due to use of such domestic LPG cylinders in commercial purpose by the hoteliers, roadside eateries, fabrication units, jewelleries etc.

Meanwhile, AACWA demanded the contractor concerned to immediately start construction of the foot over bridges at Naharlagun and Ganga Market here.

It said that the materials dumped to be used for construction of the over bridge is creating parking problem which may also cause fatal road accident.

Sir Career Fair-2014 begins on May 31

ITANAGAR, May 29: Like the previous year, the two-days "Sir Career Fair-2014" will be held at Siddhartha Hall here on May 31 and June 1.

Around 20 reputed institutes from different parts of the country are expected to participate in the Fair.

PADWS hold development meeting

ITANAGAR, May 29: Pampoli Area Development Welfare Society (PADWS) in a meeting held at Ramgang village discussed various development issues and problems faced by the villagers.

The meeting appealed to the power department for regular supply of electricity to all the electrified villages. Irregular or non-supply of electricity has not only affected the day-to day life of the villagers but also incurring loss to subscribers of satellite television, the meeting observed.

Other issue discussed in the meeting were, monthly issue of LPG cylinder to the consumers, MREGA wages as per Govt. norms and early payment of land compensation against land acquired for trans-Arunachal highway, preservation of flora and fauna.

Representatives from all the 20 villages of the area attended the meeting.

VKV Arun Jyoti conducts personality development camp at Jirdin

AALO, May 29: Vivekananda Kendra Arun Jyoti, Aalo Branch has successfully conducted three days Residential Personality Development camp at VKV, Jirdin from May 25 to 27 for the students from class VI to XII. Huge numbers of participants including 30 volunteers of VKAJ and 90 participants from various places of West Siang, East Siang and Upper Subansiri districts turned up for the camp.

Participating at the inaugural session, Col. G S Chundawat, Commanding Officer, 19th Grenadiers, Indian Army, Bogdo gave fruitful deliberation on personality development, communication skills and other values of life that are essential in the present day context.

Apart from the lecture sessions, the camp was designed to engage the participants in various activities like yoga for mental and physical, awareness Workshop for upbringing their inner talents and to let them know the essence of team work, games for physical fitness and developing concentration and memory power, group discussion for enhancing their communication skills, patriotic songs to create the sense of patriotism among the participants and devotional songs to develop spiritual feeling among the participants. APPDSU inspects Polytechnic premise

ITANAGAR, May 29: After receiving a complaint from the students union and authority of Rajiv Gandhi Govt Polytechnic Itanagar, informing unabated encroachment of institute premise by some groups, a team of All Papum Pare District Students Union (APPDSU) today inspected the site. In its report union claimed that college boundary wall was allegedly brought down by some miscreants to make their way through it. APPDSU also claimed that encroachers have notoriously planted bamboo around the wall. It also stated that IRBN personnel of BN colony Chimpu use the campus wall as by pass and college football and volleyball ground is being used as approach road. The union further urged the district administration to look into the matter and take appropriate action against the encroachers before things gone out of proportion.

One arrested on forgery charge

ITANAGAR, May 29: City police arrested a person on forgery charge and recovered huge quantity of fake seals, and documents from him.

The accused Binod Sharma (33) of Puthimari in Sonitpur district, Assam was arrested by a team of police led by SI T Loya after a complaint of forgery of medical documents was registered against him. A huge quantity of forged documents like cash memo, registration card, prescription slip of RKM Hospital, Arunachal State Hospital, Naharlagun, Assam Medical College, Christian Medical College, Vellore and 26 fake seals from his possession. The accused is the proprietor of M/s J B Drug House, Itanagar. Over the last couple of months he has prepared fake MR Bills for Govt. servants of different department, the SP informed.

Further investigation is in progress, the SP added.

ANSU stands firm on demand

ITANAGAR, May 29: All Nyishi Students' Union (ANSU) standing firm on its demand for termination of all officers involved in the alleged misappropriation of central fund meant for construction of 10 ST/SC girls' double storey hostel building at Palin under Kurung Kumey district, sought clarification from the Department of Social Justice Empowerment and Tribal Affair regarding the release of first installment of fund amounting to Rs 624.50 lakh without verifying the work done by PWD, Sangram Division. Referring to a news item appeared on May 28 issue of this daily giving clarification by the department of social justice empowerment and tribal affairs wherein the department blamed the PWD Central Zone Chief Engineer for the misappropriation of fund, ANSU demanded termination of the PWD Central Zone Chief Engineer from the post for the alleged misappropriation of fund. ANSU also equally held the Department of Social Justice Empowerment and Tribal Affairs responsible for the misappropriation of fund alleging that the first installment of the fund was released without proper verification of the work.

ANSU also demanded the state government to appoint an enquiry committee against the PWD Sangram Division. According to ANSU, majority of the officers posted in the aforesaid division are doing corruption to siphon off fund meant for public welfare.

Moreover, some of the officers are staying in the Sangram division for more than eight years which is also against the government transfer and posting rule. ANSU claimed that the union is ready for providing authentic documents against the Sangram PWD division when it is sought for. ANSU gave the state Government a week's time to terminate all those officers allegedly involved in the misappropriation of fund meant for construction of girls hostel at Palin failing which the students union threatened to launch democratic movement.

East Siang to have Sainik school

ITANAGAR, May 29: A joint survey team constituted by the Arunachal Pradesh government has given go ahead nod for establishment of the Sainik school at Industrial Growth Centre (IGC), Niglok under Ruksin Circle of East Siang district.

The six-member team headed by Elementary Education director Bodong Yirang as its chairman visited the site yesterday to ascertain the facts like availability of land for the school, hostel, dispensary and play ground besides water and electricity, official sources said here today. As per the joint survey team report, the IGC Niglok has sufficient land measuring about 583 acres and the requirement of the school is just 40 acres with strength of 300 Students and 50 acres for 600 students, sources said.

Yirang said the site would be best for establishment of the school as almost all infrastructures required were available. PTI

ACR urges Rijiju to review all 'peace talks'

ITANAGAR, May 29: Arunachal Citizen's Rights (ACR) extended its appreciation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for inducting Kiren Rijuju of Arunachal Pradesh as the Union Minister of State for Home.

"It is a matter of joy and pride for Arunachal in particular and North East as a whole that Rijuju has been given such an important responsibility," ACR said in a release.

While congratulating Rijuju, ACR requested him to bring marked changes in the way the region has been treated and managed and address the conflicts and insurgencies of the region.

Noting that the GOI has entered into peace talks with many insurgency groups but even after decades of negotiation, no logical conclusion could be found, ACR urged Minister Rijiju to critically review all peace talks.

"There is a need to involve political leaders and experienced civil society leaders of the North Eastern region as interlocutors of the peace processes rather than appointing retired officials as interlocutors. The Centre could use services of leaders such as former Mizoram Chief Minister Pu Zoramthanga, who himself gave up arms and went to lead Mizoram for peaceful settlements of the conflicts with the insurgent groups in the North East. There is a need for out of the box thinking to resolve the conflicts."

Missing children recovered from Rakso

ZIRO, May 29: After an ordeal of 5 days, the two missing kids namely Milik Apum son of Kayon Apum and Pordum Jora were recovered by a police team led by Dy SP John Pada under the supervision of SP Ziro PN Khrimey yesterday.

The duos were found from Rakso village under Palin circle of Kurung Kumey district.

The two kids went missing on May 23 from Higher Secondary School, Hapoli. The parents, and Taga family with whom these two kids were currently living at Hapoli extended their gratitude to Biri Nisu and his family members who sheltered these two kids at their home in Rakso village since May 24 till they were reunited with their family members. IMC to discuss on solid waste management

ITANAGAR, May 29: The week-long celebration to mark the completion of one year of Itanagar Municipal Council (IMC) will focus on creating public awareness on solid waste management, traffic rules and other related issues and problems.

The seventh business session of IMC held on May 27also decided to organize mass social service for garbage collection and dumping in all the 30 wards of the municipality as part the celebration. The council sought the cooperation of the authorities and the citizens.

The celebration begins on June 4.

APETA writes to CS

ITANAGAR, May 29: Claiming that the National Pension System (NPS) accounts of all regular employees under the education department appointed after 2008 have not been maintained properly, Arunachal Pradesh Elementary Teachers Association (APETA) has appealed to the chief secretary to issue directive to the DDOs for maintenance of up-to-date NPS accounts within a month. "If proper maintenance of NPS account is not possible, it should be converted to GPF, the Association opined.

Fire incident at Niti Vihar claims one

ITANAGAR, May 29: A woman was charred to death in a fire incident that claimed four SPT type houses at Niti Vihar here today. According to Itanagar fire service OC Koj Taro, Pushpa Tamang - a woman in her 70s was burnt alive when the fire broke out at about 11 in the morning. "She was inside the house when the incident occurred. Other three members of the house survived the incident," confirmed the OC.

The fire which occurred near the traffic point, Niti Vihar further engulfed three houses belonging to Godak Rubi, Godak Tatak and Godak Takap.

All the properties belonging to the households were lost in the incident and is being assessed, the OC said, adding that the cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.

Meanwhile, Capital Youth Organization (CYO) has sought relief and rehabilitation for the victims. In its letter seeking compensation for the victim to the Capital DC, it alleged that the reason for the incident is short circuit and that fire tender arrived late. It further appealed the administration to conduct programmes to spread awareness about disaster and its preventive measure.

Further CYO has appealed DC to issue notice for free movement of emergency vehicles like fire tender and ambulance. They stated that often due to traffic congestion these vehicles do not reach in time.

AAPSU, YSR foundation come closer for free education to Arunachalee students

ITANAGAR, May 29: The All Arunachal Pradesh Students Union (AAPSU) today disclosed that it is collaborating with the Dr YSR Educational and Welfare Foundation Group of Institution in promoting ‘Free Higher and Technical Education’. The educational project is especially for the students belonging to ST/SC/OBC and minority of Northeast states, it is offering free higher and technical courses across nine different educational institutions run by the YSR group at Hyderabad.

Addressing the mediapersons at Arunachal Press Club here today AAPSU general secretary Biru Nasi informed that AAPSU team had visited all those institutions of YSR group at Hyderabad for verification. The institutions are well equipped and faculties are highly qualified, Nasi informed adding one can log on www.yrsewf.in for more details about these institutions. Nasi further informed that all documents regarding these nine educational institutions have been submitted to the Directorate of Higher and Technical Education, Itanagar for scrutiny. After getting clearance from the Directorate of Higher and Technical Education, forms will be available at AAPSU office, Itanagar.

Stating that many North-eastern students could not take up technical courses outside the parent state due to financial factor, Nasi informed that under the above mentioned project, students can undertake courses such as B Tech, computer science, civil and mechanical engineering, B Sc nursing, ANM, GNM and many others within a minimal fee structure.

Students with 50 percent marks in 10th and 12th examinations can avail the benefits of the project by paying registration fee of Rs 25 thousand for eight semesters, informed Nasi. Students have to pay Rs 60 thousand as hostel fee but it will be refunded after the completion of the course, he added.

Nasi further informed that the organization has tied up with the State Bank of India (SBI) so that those students who don’t have money for hostel fee can avail it from SBI as educational loan, which again will be refunded by the YSR group. There are instances where state government don’t release funds for the scholarships, Nasi said and added that AAPSU will sign a MoU with the YSR group so that even if the concern state government stops releasing funds, students will not be affected by it.

All Assam Student Association (AASA) educational secretary Jamil Tapadar, who was present there informed that it is collaborating with the YSR group since 2009 and as many as 450 students are availing its benefits. He further informed that Eastern Naga Student Federation of Nagaland has also started collaborating with the YSR group from last year.

CS-led delegation meets FFC

ITANAGAR, May 29: A high level delegation of Arunachal Pradesh led by Chief Secretary Ramesh Negi returned yesterday from New Delhi after a detailed and fruitful official level discussion with the Fourteenth Finance Commission (FFC) on May 27 last.

In the three-hour long meeting with all the members and senior officers of the Commission, the Chief Secretary highlighted the typical and unique characteristic of the State especially in relation to the huge forest cover, sparse and spread out population, geography and related climatic conditions and the development disability caused by these factors. A detailed presentation was also made by the Finance Secretary detailing the development activities in the state, state finances, views of the state on issues flagged by the Commission.

The issues of gap in the Non Plan Grants recommended by the Thirteenth Finance Commission and actual expense on account of implementation of the 6th Pay Commission amounting to about Rs 5000 Crores, special grants for maintenance of roads and Govt buildings, equity for Hydro power were highlighted during the meeting.

The Commission took cognizance of the specific and unique aspects and difficulties emanating thereof and provided valuable inputs.

The Commission is likely to visit Arunachal in the 2nd week of June 2014 to meet the Chief Minister and his Cabinet Colleagues to finalise the demands of the state.

It may be mentioned that Finance Commissions are constituted every five year by the Govt of India to recommend inter se distribution of Non Plan Grants and share of Central Taxes among the States.

CAB reviews activities, stresses on mass awareness

ITANAGAR, May 29: The Childline Advisory Board (CAB) Itanagar held its first meeting today under the chairmanship of the Deputy Commissioner, Itanagar Capital Complex Mige Kamki to review the functioning of Childline and suggest measures to enhance its services.

The Director Childline Fr. Cyriac SDB presenting a power point presentation on the activities of childline services in India informed that Childline 1098 is a national, 24-hour toll free and emergency outreach service for children in need of care & protection and that any child or concerned adult can dial 1098 to avail of its emergency assistance. The concept evolved as a response to children's need for assistance especially when other day care services were not available.

The CHILDLINE-1098 service was initiated on June 20, 1996 in Mumbai as a field action project of Tata Institute of Social Sciences and in Itanagar, it was initiated in the Year 2011. Childline is a Govt. - NGO - Corporate partnership and the largest NGO network in India. It works as a link between Govt. of India and civil societies. In Itanagar Don Bosco School is working as a Collaborative Organization for Childline. The Director further informed that children who generally make a call are street children, child addicts, abused children, mentally ill children, child laborers, children affected by disaster, HIV/AIDS infected children, differently-able children, trafficked children etc. whom they try to provide emergency response within 60 minutes of call.

Informing that in the last one year, Childline has received a total of 16657 calls, the Director Childline requested the DC as well as the SP Capital SP Kuruvilla to provide vehicle support to Childline as and when required in case intervention to which both said that Police PCR vans can be used for any kind of such emergency. The DC also asked them to organise a training of all the stakeholders to sensitize them who in turn can sensitize people about Childline as many people are not aware of its existence. The DC also requested SP to organise training to sensitize his personnel about the same.

The Director also stressed that for systematic implementation of its services there should be good networking between Childline and District Administration. The DC in turn assured that all help would be provided from the District Administration for such a noble deed.

The team of Childline also requested the District Medical Officer, Yupia Dr. S Ronya to give free and top priority medical assistance to every cases referred by Childline and to train the Nurses and Doctors on child right and child protection. They also suggested for installation of Drop Boxes in all the schools to report cases of abuse to which the DC agreed to look into the matter.

Elizabeth Tangiang briefed on the role of Oju Welfare Association which provides shelters to orphans and destitutes. Earlier, the Deputy Director, ICDS Dani Yami gave a brief introduction about CAB, its composition, functions and role.

Tawang condemns Bomdila incident

TAWANG, May 29: The Panchayat members of Tawang today strongly condemned attack on MLAs from Tawang by few anti-social elements during the last rites of TG Rinpoche at Bomdila on May 27 last.

The act of stone pelting and damaging vehicles of the MLAs by the miscreants under the cover of mob is a cowardly act, the panchayat members said in a meeting held under the chairmanship of the Zilla Parishad Chairperson Jambey Tsering today. The members present in the meeting also demanded that miscreants involved in violence should immediately be booked and punished.

They further appealed to the Chief Minister to bring out the inquiry report of death of TG Rinpoche from the Delhi Police and to make it public so that the rumors being spread about the mysterious death of Rinpoche becomes clear.

Presiding over the meeting the ZP chairperson said "Bomdila and Tawang share very close bilateral relationship since many decades and few miscreants are trying to disrupt the cordial affiliation of the two districts." He further appealed to the general public of the two districts to maintain peace and harmony.

"Any misunderstandings or problems should be solved amicably through negotiations and dialogue so that peace and harmony is not disturbed; Violence is never a solution to any problem," he added.

Leki Phuntso Anchal Chairperson (Kitpi Block Tawang) also appealed to the Chief Minister to conduct enquiry into the incident of violence and solve the matter at the earliest. He also made an earnest request to all the people of the two districts to keep calm and maintain harmony. The meeting also deeply condoled the death of Rinpoche and prayed for his eternal peace. Anshu scales 3 peaks in 6 days in Nepal Himalayas!

ITANAGAR, May 29: Three time Everest summitter Anshu Jamsenpa was felicitated in Singha Durbar, Kathmandu on 27 May by the Ministry of Culture, Tourism & Civil Aviation, Government of Nepal for climbing three Himalayan peaks namely Lobuche (6119 mt), Pokhalde (5896 mt) and Island Peak (6189 mt) successively on May 13, 16 and 18 respectively.

During the course of her three peak expedition, she trekked through three high passes - Cho La (5330 mt), Reno (5360 mt) and Kongma La (5533 mt).

While most of the mountaineers returned back to their respective countries, Anshu went on to climb these three peaks undeterred by a deadly avalanche which killed 16 sherpa climbers just above her camp site at 19000 ft. While she was descending from her three peak expedition, she got yet another sad news that an Indian woman mountaineer Chhanda Gayen and two sherpa guides lost their lives nearby. They got buried under heavy snow fall triggered by an avalanche on May 20 in the periphery of Khumbu region. This year the mountain expeditions has been one of the worst, stated Anshu.

MS Burlakoti, Joint Secretary Government of Nepal while congratulating her for patronizing Nepal Himalayas for the last five years stated that his Ministry would adjust the royalty fee USD 11000 in her next Everest Expedition scheduled during spring 2015.

Earlier a Certificate of Achievement was handed over to Anshu by SPCC and SNPBZMC.

She was also felicitated at the Indian Embassy, Kathmandu. First Secretary, Abhay Kumar presented her a book "Remains" duly signed by the diplomat himself. He stated that Anshu is the pride of India and her mountaineering achievement is a big source of inspiration and encouragement to the youths at large and women in particular. He also made an audio visual presentation on 'Earth Anthem' which UNESCO has hailed as a creative and inspiring initiative that would contribute bringing the world together. The diplomat requested Anshu to be one of the global ambassadors for 'Earth Anthem' to which she agreed in principal to do her bit for mother nature.

Roads in century-old Pasighat town in shambles

PASIGHAT, May 29: Heavy and intermittent rainfall on the onset of monsoon worsened deplorable Pasighat town roads, giving a harrowing time to the commuters. The large and numerous potholes of the town roads filled with muddy water have created immense trouble to the cabdrivers, who are experiencing the worst travel.

The main road at Pasighat market and other link roads in the oldest town are still in a pathetic state, depicting utter responsibility of the political leaders elected from the area. The local residents have lamented that 'Pasighat Municipal Council' is yet to achieve its goal even after one year has passed from its formation (election).

The main road of the town passing across Pasighat Bazar and connecting NH-52 and DC's office is lying in deplorable state for the last few years. A negligible portion of the road was repaired on the eve of Centenary Celebration in early 2011, but the low quality re-carpeting was damaged after a few months.

Construction of drain in and around Pasighat town is another burning problem one of the town dwellers. Life of the local residents and business communities becomes so miserable during rainy season due to lack of proper drainage system in the township.

According to official sources, District Urban Development department received Rs 90 lakh under Special Plan Assistance (SPA) in the year 2011-12 for construction of drains in and around Pasighat market. The amount was spent for drain construction in a small portion of the township, but larger portion is yet to cover with drainage for disposal of rainwater and lavatory refuses.

Official in District Urban Development department here said that schemes have been submitted to the authority for improvement of road in Pasighat towns, but these are yet to be sanctioned by the government as there is no money/fund in state plan for sharing.

Alleging that former Pasighat-East MLA had miserably failed to address civic problems in the century-old Pasighat township, the local people urged their new MLA Kaling Moyong, to take bold initiative for infrastructure development of the town besides providing basic needs to the local residents.

SSA district mission takes important decisions

ITANAGAR, May 29: SSA District Mission, Yupia organized a one day meeting of ZPMs of the district on quality, monitoring and rationalization of teachers at Urban Resource Centre Naharlagun yesterday.

Attending meeting Papum Pare DDSE highlighted some important issues and problems of the district pertaining to quality, monitoring and rationalization of teachers.

The District Project Coordinator presented a PowerPoint presentation about status of schools, enrolment and teacher position.

The meeting unanimously resolved go ahead with the last year's resolution to call back SSA teachers to their original place of posting be implemented in-toto within the first week of June to meet the shortage and single teacher school in the interior schools of the district. The meeting suggested the DDSE to issue immediate posting order to those teachers who are serving under Capital Complex from other circles.

Chief Councilor (IMC) Higio Aruni assured to provide her full cooperation regarding rationalization of teachers from Capital Complex and suggested not to open new schools haphazardly.

Presiding over the meeting Papum Pare ZPC Nabam Aka supported the resolution for sending back teachers in their original place of posting and requested the education department to release salary of SSA teachers regularly to avoid absenteeism of teachers. She suggested the ZPM's to extend their full cooperation with department to achieve the goal of RTE.

The meeting was attended by the ZPMs of the Papum Pare district.

Laudable step

Dear Editor,

We strongly support and applaud the initiation of the capital administration to curb black marketing of LPG cylinder in capital city. We are very much thankful to the administration especially D.C Capital "Mige Kamki" in particularly. We also express our sincere gratitude to all those personnel who helped and took trouble in seizure of illegal LPG cylinder from different places after our sincere approach.

It is very common and routine view to see long queue of people in various counters of gas agency due to limited availability of LPG in capital city. Everybody is aware that acute shortage of LPG cylinder is due to uncheck illegal black marketing of cylinder due to which the common poor person suffers most.

This illegal black marketing and mismanagement in the distribution of LPG cylinder has been a major source of problem and mental harassment to the common people.

DC capital stood to his commitment and took step to check black-marketing. We have been pursuing this issue with him for long. Further we promise to the administration to extend our full co-operation and help to the authority. We also request our district administration to carry out similar raid in future regularly.

This effort shall definitely bring some change and minimize the headache of the many people in the capital.

IFCSAP not against anyone

Dear Editor,

This is in response to one Tarak Kuyu’s letter published in Readers’ Forum column of your daily on 28th May 2014. The IFCSAP feel pity for his ignorant. Since formation of the IFCSAP in the year 1999, the organization is vigorously pursuing for the preservation, promotion of Art, Culture, and belief system, with both Tangible and Intangible aspect of the only living Cultures of Arunachal Pradesh.

Therefore on 23rd May 2014 IFCSAP submitted a memorandum to Hon’ble Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh for induction of Minister and Parliamentary Secretary in Art & Culture Department, one who is conversant of the concept and meaning of the Art, Culture and is familiar with the various art and cultures of more than 100 ethnic group of Arunachal Pradesh. Only such person can guide the department towards vibrant growth and development of various distinct cultures of Arunachal Pradesh, by proposing and bringing more innovative schemes with due consideration to both the Tangible and Intangible aspects of various arts and culture of Arunachal.

We do not have any doubt on the capability of previous Minister & Parliamentary Secretary, the status of the Society speaks a lot, it is evident from the cropping up of various Mandirs, Churches, Masjids where as the indigenous people are devoid of such land and are organizing the prayers at their individual residents alternately. The Status of Shaman, who are custodian of oral tradition, the base and foundation of the cultural Heritage, who give day and night service to the society and humanity is least cared and not getting the platform to expose their natural spiritual knowledge.

IFCSAP acknowledge the long list of infrastructures mentioned by the Tarak Kuyu. But he should be sensible enough to know that infrastructure is a tangible part of cultural heritage. Avoiding the intangible aspect and caring only for tangible aspect tantamount to murdering of culture. IFCSAP strongly feels that to preserve and promote a culture one need to take care of both the aspect of culture, like caring the body and soul, then Arts, language, etc will take care of themselves. He should not mislead people by issuing such confusing statement.

Hence, IFCSAP feel that we would be fortunate to have a Minister/Parliamentary Secretary who is knowledgeable, belongs to that culture and is practicing, innovative, artistic and resourceful. Only such person can make meaning full scheme/project suiting the various living culture of Arunachal Pradesh. And bring funds from the centre and induct development in every aspects of Art and Culture, like construction of Indigenous Priest institution, documentation and practicing of ritual chanting, including documentation of customary system- laws, dress, culinary, folk dance, folk song, folk tale, folk lore and traditional dramas, crafts and dialect of each tribal community. To establish such documentation cum training centre at various major villages so as to preserve and promote the living Art and Culture. Governments can also undertake to establish Sangeet, Natak and Drama institution for the upliftment of the budding artist of the state.

For information of general public that in Departmental manual the domain of activities of Art and Cultural department are mentioned as:- documentation of audio-visual, photographs, publication of books, workshop, Seminars and construction of traditional cultural institution like Gompas, Deres, Namlos , Rangshumhum etc. at every major villages of state to protect, promote and preserve the age old traditional faith & culture of tribal community in Arunachal Pradesh.

IFCSAP want to tell that we are neither against any official, Minister, Parliamentary Secretary etc. Rather we want more creativity and skill person to guide the department of Art & Culture.

Episode of jellyfish at Kimin

Dear Editor,

Few days back one Y. Kana wrote about Kimin as an antisocial hub for which a befitting reply was seen the other day. Through my eyes it seems the disease has followed suit from our capital. Often we say “Loss of Culture is Loss of Identity”. So let’s say was it! Or is it our culture? A society is nothing but a composite of individuals. The collective behavior of individuals is called culture. But the traditional thinker’s mind is paralyzed. They are reasons; it’s been this way for a hundred years. Therefore, it must be good and must stay this way. Why risk the change?

I understand in this great time of Exodus, we need land to dwell; technically it’s right but ethically weak. All of life is nothing more than a projection, like an LCD projector, we project into our outer worlds who we are in our inner worlds. If we show our younger ones the way to illegal encroachment rather than the other way, they cannot help but respond in the same manner.

Someone said I don’t need to know the language to say I’m in love; likewise, we don’t need to own a luxurious SUV, put on branded clothes or use latest gadgets to picture ourselves civilized.

I am no Gandhi and I am not correcting or criticizing anybody. I am just a simple teacher trying to motivate our younger generation to realize the mistake done by our elders and not to follow suit because the whole episode seems like a jellyfish swallowing a snail and since the snail is protected in the shell, it remains alive. But for its survival it needs food. So, it starts eating the jellyfish. This is nature in its true form. This is not fiction: ‘It is always the enemy within, that consumes and destroys society’.

State needs vibrant electronic media

Dear Editor,

Through your esteemed daily, I would like to put-forward one of the burning subjects that sometimes visit me. It has been almost 25 years when our first Newspaper, the ‘Echo of Arunachal’ was started by our own respected late ‘Lummer Dai’. Now, what I could think from my reasonable mind is; he gave us a platform to progress in the field of Journalism. Of course, we have progressed; from a single fortnightly paper to the present, wherein 7 dailies are published. But the journey of 25 plus years demands much more.

Today, when we turn to television, we sees our immediate neighbour, ‘Assam’ having owned and operating numbers of private channels, telling every bit of happenings, right from a petty family quarrel to the LIVE updates of their MPs & MLAs vote counting. Of course, there are many, which invite criticism; but these criticisms help them for further improvement and development in their activities.

But, what I see is that our state still remains stagnant in the field of Electronic Media. I hope someday I would be watching day-on-day basis news from every corner of our State in the ‘After-noon Special’ or ‘Evening Prime-time’ news. Therefore, I would like to appeal all the journalist fraternities, influential personalities, political leaders and the Government of our State to take united effort and initiate for a positive-change to our 25 years old journalistic journey.

Strong action be initiated

Capital complex has been battling LPG crisis for the past many months. It is noticed that gas agencies of capital is not able to fulfill the demands of consumers. One has to wait for months after booking to get actual delivery. One of the possible reasons for such delay is being attributed to black marketing of cylinders. Yesterday team of officers from Food & Civil Supplies (F&CS) department and general administration swung into action and raided all the commercial establishments like restaurants, hotels, road-side eateries, fabrication units and jewellery shops etc in the Capital Complex. They seized huge number of highly subsidized domestic cylinders meant for domestic cooking purposes.

Divided into three groups, the official teams along with IRBN personnel carried out the surprise checking at all the commercial institutions of Itanagar, Naharlagun and Banderdewa. Such checking should be carried out on weekly basis, so that black marketing can be curbed. The Food & Civil Supplies department should also investigate the role of gas agencies in this regard. There are possibilities of black marketer developing coordination with gas agencies to run their racket. Strong action should be initiated against such unscrupulous elements.
